Foiler – the Flying Yacht

Jun 30 2018

A new era of sailing begins. The world's first private flying yacht, created by Enata Marine, is the sensational new concept breaking boundaries in the yachting world.

The FOILER project began in Switzerland in 2010 within the company Hydros. In 2015, Hydros presented its HY-X, a small-scale prototype of the current FOILER and the Union Internationale Motonautique (International Powerboat Association - UIM) gave it's Environmental Award to the FOILER's prototype. In 2016, Hydros joined the ENATA group, and the production of the FOILER began.

The FOILER's four patented foils have been designed to provide auto-stability and ensure a very comfortable ride by removing the movement generated by the waves' impact on the hull. The foils and rudders provide an amazing grip in the water that gives the FOILER the ability to turn like no other boat.

The foils are fully retractable. With this patented system, the FOILER switches from foiling mode to Archimedean mode in a few seconds. When moored or at the harbour, the foils and torpedoes are entirely out of the water. That way they stay dry and clean, thereby reducing the maintenance.

With the FOILER, you have a two-in-one: a very comfortable and luxurious yacht with the performance and handling of a super-car.

In the FOILER, you fly 1.5m above the sea. Therefore it masters rough weather seamlessly whereas a regular yacht will slam into the waves. This ability to fly above the water allows you to sail in comfort at full speed while regular boats have to slow down as they slam the waves.

FOILER's smooth ride will enable you to drive at maximum speeds, even during rough seas. Its smoothness, comfort, and stability not only makes the FOILER much safer than regular boats, but it also eliminates seasickness.

In electric mode, the FOILER is absolutely silent. The FOILER can reach up to 10 knots in this mode. It is usually the mode used in harbours or when sailing at low speed.

If you don't push to maximum speed, you do not use the battery. If you push for full power, the FOILER combines the power of the diesel engines with the energy stored in the battery to deliver the maximum speed.

Its two 300hp hybrid engines give the FOILER the speed and power it needs, while also being able to cruise in full electric mode and reduce the overall fuel by 20% compared to a traditional yacht.

Maximum speed: 40 knots or 74 km/h. Take off speed: 17 knots or 31 km/h.

Range is 260 nautical miles/482 km @ 20 knots, or 130 nautical miles/240 km @ 30 knots

ENATA Industries (creators of Foiler) is born from the passion of applying high-tech engineering to sailing and flying. Based in Singapore, France, Switzerland with its factory in the United Arab Emirates, ENATA boasts a 75,000 sq.ft top-notch yard which hosts its three divisions: ENATA Marine, ENATA Aerospace and ENATA Architecture. Its facilities house an engineering office, five-axis robots, milling machines, and white rooms amongst other industry-specific features, and employs over 200 people.
