These 'stone trees', are a notable set of karst formations located in the Shilin Yi Autonomous Country, Yunnan Province of China. Their creation is caused by the dissolution of limestone and are believed to be over 270 million years old.

A Tiny European Town Built on a Cliff

The Rubjerg Knude lighthouse was first lit on December 27, 1900. Today it rests abandoned on top of the 200 foot (60 m) cliff on the coast of the North Sea, in northern Denmark. Each year the coast erodes approximately 4.9 feet (1.5 m).

The village of San Juan Parangaricutiro was one of them and the only thing left to remind us of the village that was once here is an ancient church. It is buried under more than 20 feet of lava rock.
